Fort Worth, Texas would not have any water gardens if it were not for Myrtle Ophelia Bell Fralia Witten Melton Dehn Lane
Her daughter went to Rome, Italy and came back talking about the wonderful water fountains that they had there and ask Myrtle if she could get the Gruin Plan people to have some water fountains built for Fort Worth. She was the only woman on the Gruin Plain. W. O. Jones, who had been City Manager of Fort Worth and was a friend of her daughter Joan Margaret Melton. He sat on one side of her and Paul Leonard, part owner of Leonard Brothers Department Store sat on the other side of her. Joan taught Paul to fly when she owned a flying school.
